Independent testing shows Microsoft Lync 2013 users can effectively place 911 calls with 911 ETC VoIPConnect on the Sonus SBC 1000 platform
PLANO, Texas, U.S.A. — November 19, 2015 — tekVizion has completed an interoperability test for 911 ETC validating that its VoIPConnect emergency services work with Microsoft Lync 2013*. The results show that 911 ETC customers using Microsoft Lync 2013 can place 911 calls and enable routing to appropriate authorities.
“Perhaps nothing is more mission-critical than an emergency 911 call. We are continuously evaluating our solutions and turned to independent lab tekVizion to test our E-911 service for customers using Microsoft Lync 2013. It’s important to have that third-party validation to confirm that we can provide potentially life-saving services to our customers,” said Glen O’Keefe, VP IT/Product Development, 911 ETC.
tekVizion tested 911 routing for the 911 ETC VoIPConnect service on the Sonus Networks’ (NASDAQ: SONS) mid-size enterprise SBC 1000 platform for calls made from Microsoft Lync 2013. The Sonus SBC was chosen for its scalable performance, robust security, and intuitive user interface. VoIPConnect provides an organization with an efficient and cost-effective way to manage its E-911 database. When a 911 call is placed, the solution sends the Emergency Location Identification Number (ELIN) to 911 ETC, which routes the call along with location information to the nearest Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).
“This really underscores the value of testing and how strategic it is in ensuring success. When you are talking emergency 911 calls, you have to get it right. With the wide range of communications options on the market, testing becomes especially important for mission-critical, emergency services to ensure a rapid response with accurate location details across the board,” said Vimal Andrews, Director of Strategic Accounts, tekVizion.
911 ETC continuously works to make E911 calls as rapid, accurate and intuitive as possible. Interoperability testing is a key step to understand performance and validate interoperability.
