tekVizion Offers Customized, Integrated Communications Portal Development to Service Providers

Systems Integrator Fills Vital Need in Carriers’ Converged Services Strategies

RICHARDSON, TX (March 7, 2005) – tekVizion™ PVS, Inc., the new standard for systems integration, announced today that it is offering customized portal development to service providers.

tekVizion’s expertise in interoperability and integration covers a wide variety of products in the next-generation telecom industry. tekVizion also has extensive experience in custom software development and APIs from market-leading application vendors. Combined, these capabilities enable tekVizion to design and develop integrated, end-user portals that incorporate applications from multiple vendors as well as custom-built applications,

Integrated communications portals are an important part of service providers’ converged services strategies for several reasons:

  • A portal provides subscribers with capabilities not found in traditional switched network communications services, such as setting rules for call screening, viewing call logs, and managing incoming calls in real-time.
  • Once they become accustomed to their portal, users are more likely to buy additional services from their provider. For example, a portal that allows parents to set controls on their teenagers’ wireline, wireless, Internet, and video usage provides a powerful incentive for parents to purchase all these services from the same provider.
  • As users personalize their portals and populate them with data such as address books, calendar information, and call screening rules, they are less likely to want to switch to a new provider due to the inconvenience of transferring data and customizing a new a new portal.

A truly integrated, customized portal empowers service providers to offer services based on best-of-breed applications from multiple vendors. For example, the service provider can offer enterprise subscribers an IP Centrex, voicemail and conferencing bundle using applications from different vendors. In addition, the portal can shield subscribers from changes in the service provider’s network, allowing the service provider to adopt a dual-sourcing strategy for application platforms or switch to a new platform vendor with a superior solution.

“tekVizion takes a modular approach to portal design,” said Sach Vengurlekar, tekVizion COO. “This allows service providers to customize portals to different target markets using a common point of integration to back-office and network elements. This approach also minimizes the modifications needed to the portal when making changes in the network or back-office elements.”

“With today’s self-servicing capabilities, the portal is often the single point of contact between the service provider and subscriber,” Vengurlekar added. “Service providers must be certain that their portals positively promote their brand, are integrated seamlessly with customer care and billing platforms, and allow for adding future services and enhancements.”
